A stunning Workshop is the Canvas of the art of Cooking

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
– Maya Angelou

I almost forgot these lines. In my daily busy schedule either my passion forgot me or I disown my passion. Last month a workshop did magic. On the way of returning home from the workshop, I saw myself who loves cooking, who is a food fervent, and who has a dream with food. After attending it my passion my love my aggression my dream just came in front of my eyes.  Then I able to a thought where I am? How far I am away from my dream? How much I have neglected my passion and myself? This workshop gave me a sense of relief that I finally found myself.

The workshop was arranged by Rukma Dakshy. She is a renowned personality of the food and lifestyle world. She is a great singer and Rabindra Nath Tagore's music is her soul. Her remarkable books are ‘Rasananjane Kolkata’, 'Cooking Kolkata', 'Microwave Cooking', 'Low Oil Cooking' and 'Festival Cooking'. She regularly writes columns in many newspapers and hosts TV shows, conducts cooking workshops.

I have joined numerous workshops in my life. Type of workshop which I have attended in my Management study time that is different from the workshops I have attended in my professional carrier. But the purpose to attain is the same ‘to learn’. Previously I have attained one or two cooking workshops but that did not give goose bump in my belly like this time.

Having fun, meeting new people and enjoying a new experience are all great reasons to enroll in a cooking workshop. Your instructor can also teach you proper techniques while answering your cooking questions. You can watch all the cooking TV shows you want, but nothing gives you the hands-on experience of being in a real live class with a real live teacher. You can learn from an instructor who does things in real-time without speeding up all the steps hard to follow!

Rukma Mam graciously taught from the bottom of her heart and pleasure of teaching was reflecting on her face. 4 items she taught in the workshop- Shak Shouka, Chicken Potli Kabab, Chicken Puff, Scotch egg.  It seems too easy to cook these dishes when I was watching her. From the steps to preparing the dishes to finally get the dishes to cook she was so peaceful, sorted and calm. Gave tips and met all the queries participants with smiling faces. I enjoyed this learning thoroughly. Her house and specially kitchen is the proper backdrop to glow her charm. Her kitchen is reflecting her tidy and uncluttered nature and love for food. Her appearance and behaviour reminded me of the lines of Wolfgang Puck-“Cooking is like painting or writing a song. Just as there are only so many notes or colors, there are only so many flavors - it's how you combine them that set you apart”.

After the workshop we all the participants have eaten all the 4 items and with a big cup of hot tea. Amazing taste to Chicken puff just spellbound me. I never ever tested Shak Shouka but heard a lot. This Shak Shouka was really a blast. I don’t know how I eat Scotch egg and Potli kabab after having the previous two.  I found the only reason behind this I can’t able to bear the loss of not tasting them. All the dishes were splendid and cherish my soul

An insightful cooking workshop can become a channel to blissful a state of blankness where the mind let go the blockage and is open to drive into new avenues and enables the soul towards the journey of the self-reawakening. It is an acknowledgment of the power of cooking which is truly spiritual and devotional experience. In the cycle of life, cooking is possibly the utmost form of meditation, a celestial art that nurtures the soul and balances the emotion of the conscious and subconscious mind.
