Digha- Darling of Travelers

Today try to share few words and lots of pictures about Digha. The name itself brings smile on all Bong’s face. It is a  jovial place to pamper yourself by each and ev
ery possible way.

Digha is the most admired trendy traveler destination in West Bengal. It is famous as “Brighton of the East”. The gorgeous and startling point of Digha is the beach which is flat and hard which is spread over a large area. This beach  is known as one of the widest beaches all over the world. West Bengal is famous place for the tourist only with Digha beach which increases the beauty of West Bengal.  

The beaches of Digha are flat and wide. The sea looked ominous in the dark. Digha has a lively market to explore . Beaches of Digha are interconnected and by walking one can explore from Old Digha to Talsari Beach on foot. Due to weekend, the beach was crowded as lots of people had come over from Kolkata. There were pony and horse rides available.

One strange thing about Digha is, unlike any coastal area, the vegetation doesn’t consist of coconut trees. There are sort of pine trees along the beach! There are hardly any coconut trees in the area! But there were several green coconuts (Daab)  i.e. daab stalls on the beach with long benches for people to sit. The daabs were very sweet and tasty!!

Digha  is divided in two parts old Digha and New Digha.

Old Digha is a bustling part of the town. There is a much bigger and cheaper market at Old Digha. Also ATMs are located at Old Digha only.  Ornaments made of sea-shell, Varieeties of hand crafted items, boxes to Goddess all are available in colorful designs and range of varieties. 

New Digha is a beautiful extension of the Old Digha.  Science center at this place was established by National Council of Science Museum. Number of science projects available there that explains various principles of science. A pleasant park gives you a tour of Jurassic Age. Amravati Lake ,Snake Park is also fascinating. 

Cashew nuts is  most famous product in Digha after fish . It is available all most all the shops in the market area. Another Unique thing available in Digha is the Fried fish stall. You can find each and every type of fish there ( Prawans, Hilsha, Pomfret, Long-whiskered catfish, Barramundi, Reba, Indian Jewfish, Clown Knifefish, Honey gourami are some of them)  . You can choose as per your choice and let them make it fried for you. Crispy crunchy fried fish .
