A worthwhile Food Endeavour- Tiretti Bazar

“It is not down in any map; true places never are.” – Herman Melville

Your half awaken body, sleepy mind can be frenzied by a place in a twinkle of eyes – The place called Tiretti Bazar.

It was the fine Sunday morning of 24th Feb 2019 of my Anniversary at 5 am we visited rather flown for Tiretti Bazaar . Our denial body from half sleep and Husky eyes was soothed by fine morning breeze and floating aroma of delicious Chinese cuisine. The variety and fragrance of Chinese food raise our craving for exploration of Chinese delicacies.  We saw pockets of people flocking around each kiosk. Fascinated, we came closer to find that what the stall’s offered. Very Chinese looking lady or gentleman selling their home cooked fresh and lovely delicacies!
“The Paradise of Authentic Chinese Food” for breakfast

We found momos or dumplings stuffed with veg, pork, chicken, or seafood. These are either steamed and served with clear soup or fried to a crisp and served with a sauce. Delicious and lovely made momos are best among Kolkata’s finest and sauces are unique and hit your teste buds delightfully.  From coconut balls, rice and sesame seed sweet balls, sticky rice and even chicken pies fresh steaming dumplings and fish sui mais to fishball soups, breaded pork chops, this place is just fare of Chinese authentic lavish delicacy by home-cooks.
We were so confused – where to start. So we had started our venture with sweeten items. Those coconut balls, rice and sesame seed sweet balls were really heavenly.  Once we had finished it was time for us to go for some spicy dishes!  We had started with aromatic soup which available in two varieties chicken and fish. The steaming bowls of soup had appeared to lure our senses like nothing ever! We had a bowl of chicken soup with the customary soy sauce and it did not dishearten

The best prevalent kiosk called “Uncle and Aunty” runs by very, very busy smiling the duo with lots of delicious verity. After a while we saw people standing around arbitrarily waiting for someone to arrive. Not long after, really old Chinese lady with a walking stick in her hand arrived. Quickly we are realised that she sells exotic chicken and pork pies. When make our first bite in chicken pie then only we can realised that why people waiting for her, pies are the one of the best thing in ‘City of Joy’ One bite

Apart from pies, Tiretti also sees Fish Sui Mais, Kachumba Pakoras home-cooks selling breaded pork fillets, spring rolls, chops as well as and oddly enough a kachodi stall which seems to be very popular with the Chinese customers. A decent meal would cost per person anywhere between Rs 60 to Rs 100. The Chinese have open-handedly lent their influence to ‘City of Joy’ cuisine with dishes like Indo-Chinese Hakka Noodles, Chilli Chicken
overwhelming the market, in the process adding a magical dimension to it, but they have also managed to preserve a selection of original recipes that are innately reminiscent of their culture and heritage that are a mixture of complex aromas and tastes that epitomise the pedigree of their culinary heritage. One only has to come till Tiretti bazaar to experience this flavour explosion to their palates.

Tiretti Bazar is also one of the best places in the Kolkata to find fresh meat, seafood, fresh vegetable, Green Coconut, Fruits, Flowers and shiitake mushrooms. This place can satisfy almost all your daily needs.
Tiretti is ecstasy for food lover. This food festival begins every day from around 6 am for two hours and Sunday is special in respect of duration and variety. If you are in Kolkata please visit Tiretti Bazar, it is a very different experience in all respect. It’s a promise that Tiretti satisfies your taste buds and heart as amusingly as a reputed Chinese restaurant in the city.
