What is Cheela?
Besan Cheela recipe is a quick simple and healthy Indian flavorful savory pancake made from besan (gram flour/ chickpea flour).this dish is ideal for breakfast or Tiffin because it’s easily digestive wholesome meal. Besan is a resourceful ingredient used extensively as excellent vegan alternative to eggs. It is referred to as a vegan omelet and gives a whole protein serving. I made it without onion and garlic as perfect vegan recipe. You can add chopped onion, garlic, tomatoes or any other vegetables as per your requirements. You can serve it with curd, aloo hing ki sabji, pudina coriander garlic chutney or any with any pickle as per your choice.
· Besan/ Chickpea flour/ Gram Flour- 1 cup
· Maida/All purpose flour- ½ cup
· Ajwain/ Carom Seeds- 1 teaspoon crushed
· Salt- As per taste
· Chat Masala- 1 teaspoon
· Curd- 1 tablespoon
· Sugar- As per taste
· Black Pepper Powder- 1 teaspoon
· Coriander Powder- 1 teaspoon
· Garam Masala Powder- teaspoon
· Ghee- 1 table spoon
· Cilantro/Coriander leaves chopped- 1 cup
· Turmeric powder- ½ teaspoon
· Ginger paste/ powder- 1 teaspoon
· Water- ½ cup after that as per necessity
Process-:
1. Add all ingredients in a deep breath bowl.
2. Now add water.
3. Whisk properly without any lump.
4. Make smooth and flowing consistently thick batter with pouring consistency.
5. Heat a Tawa, brush oil.
6. Pour a ladle full of batter in the center.
7. Spread it as thin as possible.
8. Let it fried from one side on medium flame add 2/3 drops of ghee again fry for 1 minute with pressing the spatula when the edges begin to leave the pan then flip.
9. Continue the process for this side also.
10. Make sure Cheela cooked perfectly. When you see brown spots on each side then remove it from tawa. To keep cheela soft please cover it.
11. Serve as per your choice with your smile.
